Our Why
Tucked away in the wide-open spaces of Northern Nevada, Grandma’s Barn Rescue & Sanctuary is a safe and loving refuge for animals in need. We provide care and shelter to horses, donkeys, and dogs, and dream of expanding our rescue to welcome cows, goats, and other farm animals in the near future.
Our name is inspired by our beloved great-grandmother, who at 99 years old continues to share her deep love for animals. Grandma’s compassion is the heart of our mission—to give every animal a second chance at life, whether through permanent sanctuary, foster care, or adoption into a forever home.

Our Founder
Tanya has had a lifelong dream to have a rescue and sanctuary for animals of all kinds. A lover of pit bulls, horses, and all farm animals, her passion for all animals is readily apparent. After running and retiring from running a successful Yoga business for over 22 years, she turned her ambition towards creating a space where she could make her dreams and the dreams of animals and people come true. A place where community is developed and nurtured, a place where healing begins and love never ends. Her love and admiration for her Grandmother, and biggest cheerleader, Nancy, who has hugely inspired her to take this leap and live this dream! The whole family is involved, but none more than Tanya's husband, Cam. He has been there through all of the dreams and disappointments and continues to love every animal who comes into care. Tanya's twins, Cade and Maddison, sit on the board, and Cade also helps with technical support, is super handy, and handles a tractor like no other. Maddison lives nearby and is a constant source of encouragement and support. Our younger sons, Chance and Grant, also support and love the ranch and rescue life, and the animals love them so, so much.
